Sustainable Development

Overview

Sustainability is one of our seven organisational values. We focus our efforts in three areas:

Social sustainability – meeting society’s expectations of our responsibilities to our employees and the communities in which we operate.

Environmental Sustainability – minimising the environmental impact of our site operations and logistics, with a focus on resource use, while also developing and offering our customers and end users sustainable product solutions and services.

Economic Sustainability – the successful performance of our business model.

As one of the world’s largest resellers of chain-of-custody certified and recycled papers, the growth of our business depends in part on how we manage our sustainable supply chain.  Trading in paper products originating from certified forests (against third party standards such as Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) now accounts for 48% of the volume of the  business.

The Company’s commitments in this area are laid out in the PaperlinX Sustainable Development Charter, the PaperlinX Sustainable Supply Chain Policy and the global Safety, Health and Environment Policy.

We publish sustainability updates  in our Annual Report.

We have participated in the global Carbon Disclosure Project from 2007 to 2011. View our most recent response.

Since 2010, the company has participated in the Forest  Footprint Disclosure Project, and in 2012 acheived an improved rating.
